Field Trip: Oldest Stone House

Today, we kicked off our new social studies unit with a visit to the Oldest Stone House in Lakewood Park!

We learned so many interesting things about the way people lived long ago. We even pretended to be students in a one room school house!

Halloween Week Fun!

This past week was so much fun!

We were celebrating Fall and Halloween throughout the week!

We made our very own Humbug Witches...

Celebrated Kailey's birthday...

Wrote directions for how to make a surprise Halloween craft, and then had a friend follow our directions to actually make the craft! 

Mrs. Hayes' star block group finished their Spider reports and enjoyed the presentations with spider snacks...

The 4th and 5th graders put on an AMAZING musical performance for us on Friday morning...

And the best part of the whole week was our Fall party Friday afternoon!

Thank you to all the parents that helped make it possible! We had so much fun!

Fly Guy and Other Stories Live!

Nolan said it best when he said, "Today was the most fun day of school ever!"

We took our first field trip of the year to the Stocker Arts Center to see the play Fly Guy and Other Stories!

It was such a great day!

CELEBRATE Our Writing! Come On!

We have spent the first quarter transforming into authors of personal narratives!  Friday, we celebrated all our writing successes by sharing our published story with each other.

First we read our stories...

Then we enjoyed a tasty treat...

And finally we joined in a celebration song!

Sun, Sun, Sun, Here it Comes!

We spent the last 2 weeks learning about our closest star... the sun!

We learned a TON of facts and we wanted to share them with you.  What better way to do it than with a trip to the sun!!

Fire Safety

This week is Fire Prevention Week!  To make sure we know how to be safe, the Lakewood Fire Department visited us on Monday!

They even brought a fire truck to our school!  It was great!
