St. Patrick's Day Shenanigans
Yesterday was St. Patrick's Day and we had such a fun day!!
And he left us a note with a mystery to solve!
We had to figure out what the powder he left behind was so we could earn his pot of gold! Good thing we just studied what happens when different materials are mixed with water and vinegar the day before in science! After a quick experiment we discovered that the mystery powder was BAKING SODA!!
The leprechaun must have spilled it when he was baking us these yummy chocolate chip cookies :)
We thought there was a leprechaun in the building because we kept seeing green flashes... but then we KNEW he was here because he flipped everything in the office!

We read the book 10 Grouchy Groundhogs, and then acted it out...
After we watched the video of Punxsutawney Phil seeing his shadow and predicting 6 more weeks of winter (booo!!!), we made our own Phil's seeing their shadows, too...
We ended our hibernation celebration day with a groundhog snack and some hot cocoa!!

Eric Carle Inspirations
We have been so inspired by Eric Carle's beautiful illustrations and awesome writing the past two weeks!
We created our own characters that would be great inside an Eric Carle book using his technique of tissue paper collages...
We made MATHerpillars, which were obviously inspired by The Very Hungry Caterpillar...
And of course, they had to turn into beautiful butterflies!!
Learning from Eric Carle has been so much fun! We can't wait to see who our next author will be!
Today was also our ice cream sundae party for all the students that completed their second quarter reading log!!!! We all got to make our own ice cream sundae's with LOTS of toppings!! YUM! YUM!
Remember to fill out your reading logs every night so you can join us for our third quarter party!!

We practiced measuring and comparing the length of objects in math.
We made the Grinch's heart grow so much with acts of kindness in our classroom! We can barely see the Grinch under there with all those hearts!
On Friday, we opened gifts while watching How The Grinch Stole Christmas.
Everyone got their very own book!!!
Later that day, our parents and family members came in to hear us read our stories at our writing celebration! We read our teaching books to them. THANK YOU for supporting our writing!
We were so proud of our books!
Then, we really celebrated at our Winter Party!!
It was so much fun!! We had delicious snacks and played such a fun game!!
Thank you to everyone who organized the party and who came to party with us!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!
