1st Grade Reading Olympics

We have just LOVED learning about and watching the winter Olympics this year!

After we learned about the events in the winter Olympics, we each chose our favorite sport and wrote an opinion piece telling why it was the best!

We invited the other first grade classes over and read our writing to them to try and convince them to agree with us!

We were even inspired to have our own Reading Olympics!  We tracked how many minutes we read at home over the course of 2 weeks.  After our 2 weeks were up, we totaled our time to try to earn a medal!

Gold medalists read more than 200 minutes.
Silver medalists read 150-199 minutes.
Bronze medalists read 149 minutes or less.

We had 17 students in our class earn a medal! WOW!

We even had a medal ceremony with Mrs. Hayes and Mrs. Cintron's class!
